2021 – 2023

Leaders in Innovation

During the 2021 – 2023 period, the Interamerican Society of Minimally Invasive Surgery (SICCMI) was led by a board of outstanding professionals who drove innovation in minimally invasive spine surgery. At the helm was the president, Dr. Manuel Rodríguez from Mexico, a pioneer in minimally invasive spine surgery. With over two decades of experience, Dr. Rodríguez was instrumental in developing new techniques that improved the safety and efficacy of procedures.

The first vice president, Dr. Kai Uwe Lewandrowski from the United States, also brought vast experience in this field. Recognized for his work in spine surgery innovation, Dr. Lewandrowski published numerous studies and was a speaker at multiple international congresses. His leadership at SICCMI was crucial in promoting collaboration and knowledge exchange among specialists from different countries.

The board also included key professionals in various areas: secretaries responsible for administrative management and communications, an economic committee in charge of financial sustainability, an academic-scientific committee dedicated to promoting clinical studies and high-quality educational programs, and a fiscal officer who ensured all activities complied with current legal and ethical regulations.

The experience and dedication of these leaders in minimally invasive spine surgery were fundamental to the continued advancement of the field. Under their direction, SICCMI remained a benchmark in innovation and development, benefiting patients and professionals throughout the interamerican region.
